Custom Term Papers

Often custom term papers are associated with plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined as an unauthorized use of one’s words and thoughts, and using them as your own. The most efficient way to avoid your paper from plagiarism is to present proper reference or citations that would increase the level of originality in your writing.

However, plagiarism can be avoided best by documenting the sources appropriately. But how can you do that? You can do that by using footnotes, end notes, having bibliographies, parenthetical references or works cited page at the end of your term paper.

While writing custom term papers or any self-written academic piece, it is very important to take account of the preferred documentation types of the professor. Mostly the word processors usually have superscript, footnote as well as end note capabilities. If you are required to use footnotes or end notes, it is however, a rewarding effort to master this particular feature of the computer.

Among the various ways of documenting sources, a parenthetical reference is the most simplest. It is also referred as parenthetical citation or parenthetical documentation.

When you use parenthetical references, you must have numerically super scripted footnote references right at the bottom of the same page where you have located the citations. End notes and footnotes are very common in custom term papers, and are however used to give credits to the sources of any material that is borrowed, paraphrased as well as summarized.

The main difference in end notes and footnotes is that end notes are placed numerically at the end of the term paper on a separate page that is titled as End notes or Notes while footnotes are just placed numerically at the bottom of the same page where you have made direct references.

Apart from end notes, footnotes, and parenthetical references, custom term papers and the likes both need to have the cited pages and bibliographies to prevent any plagiarism issues. Works cited pages are however at times, referred as references. The terms have quite same meanings. Each is an alphabetical list that works with the paper that has made references.

Custom term papers often depend on the prescribed writing style while choosing what documentation type is to be employed. Works cited is used commonly in citing sources using MLA (Modern Language Association) style, while the references are used in citing sources via APA (American Psychological Association) style.

Works cited page and bibliography are however, not equally the same. In works cited page, it is only the list that the paper actually cited while in bibliography, it is a list of all the materials that have been consequently consulted in preparing the entire research paper whether or not it actually cited the work.

Facing the problem of plagiarism in custom term papers and even in self written papers are quite common and however, it can be easily resolved when proper source documentation has been employed. However there can be no excuse for failing to cite sources because there are various ways in which you can do it and various methods are present to choose from.
